Summary: This is an essay about a woman during the time of the 2016 election between Trump and Clinton. The essay starts at the end of the election when Trump gets a shocking win over Clinton. The woman in this story isn’t happy about the outcomes, she goes out of her way to keep the denial of the news from becoming realization. She’s so shocked by the news that when her kids ask her if Trump going to ruin our life she doesn't respond. The woman goes on with normal schedule after finally letting the bad news sink in. Throughout the day she has a flashback about a conversation she had with her grandad. In this flashback she asks her grandad who he was voting for in this election for their town. He responded with, “I don’t know but I'm not voting for a woman. His reason for this is because women are not fit to lead or make decisions on this big of a scale. This flash back helps her understand how things have always been and how Clinton winning would’ve change things. She concluded the essay by praising Clinton and saying she might not have on this one, but one day she will win.
Response: “Hillary Clinton victory would’ve in some measure healed the lifelong wounds that patriarchy has made on my heart (33).” I feel like this is true for women everywhere. If Clinton won the election, the economy would be much different. People who doubt females can’t hold position of power would have closed their mouth and deal with how things would be. I feel like if Hillary would’ve won more females could be comfortable in a position of power. A woman in power feel like they must work twice as hard and go over the top. But if Clinton had won there would be no pressure to keep up with a man. With a woman in office females would be on equal footing with males and this notion of men being harder workers would fall. Females could standup and be proud of their leader and be proud to be female in a male dominate world. Trump win did more for the ego of men's then for women. Some men aren’t comfortable with a change that big so for Trump to win, it just means that the system isn’t ready for change right now.
