GC Film Write-Up

While I was looking for the show "Hot Girls Wanted" for our assignment there was actually a film documentary called "Hot Girls Wanted". It followed the story of different girls who stayed in Miami for sex work. He took care of the girls by giving them a house to live in, and took them to shoots. We follow various girls because throughout the film, they quit the industry.

When I clicked on the film, I did not know what to expect, but by the end I was actually really upset about how women go into sex work to get good money. There were many graphic videos showing how the women are literally sexually abused in front of the camera, but they do it to keep paying bills. From our class, I've learned that women are just objects in our society. The film really confirmed this. For example, when the women would go to the nude photoshoots, the man would straight out insult her by saying things wrong about her face and body that didn't make her attractive. Also, there was a clip of the man who housed the females saying that one of them needed to tone up and "just get smaller". This just goes to show that women need to be a certain way, or else they aren't perfect.

This film made me realize the sad reality of the porn industry. This side of the porn industry shows that these sex workers are REAL people. They are daughters, girlfriends, and even mothers. I think that there should be laws on what kind of porn goes on the internet because the majority of it entails abuse against women, and young men who come upon these videos think this is how women should be treated.
