Summary: This movie is about two friends who are cops on the street of LA. Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala who are the characters in the film are the total opposite of each other, they deal with issue like drugs, racism, murder and prostitution. Mike has a wife and a baby on the way and Brian is just starting a new serious relationship. Both guys are learning how to juggle work and their personal life. One day Brian and Mike make a big bust, they find a drug den. In the den are lots of drugs and dead bodies from the cartel in LA. Unbeknown to them the cartel put a hit out for both just because they were doing their jobs. At this point Brian and mike keep going on about their normal duties without suspecting a thing. Then one day a car pulls in front of them and speed off and they chase him to a sketchy apartment. The guy gets out and run and they follow behind him. When Brian and Mike get inside the apartment, they get ambushed by a bunch of cartel people. The result is Mike gets shot and killed and Brian escape to tell the story. At Mike funeral, Brian says a few words and call mike his brother. The movie ends with Mike getting a police officer send off and his watching coming to an end.
Response: This movie to me was very powerful in the sense of looking at police in a new light. This movie shows what cops must go through every day and still make sure they make home to their families. Outside in the real world some people see cops as the enemy and assume all cops are bad. This movie dispelled that, not only are all cops not bad; but they do their best to clean the streets up for everyone. The movie shows that cops are willing to put their life on the line just to make sure people can go outside and feel safe in their neighborhood. I felt like it was smart for the movie to show cops outside of work. People have the idea of cops are these lonely hardcore, feel no love and shoot first people. But this movie paint them for what they really are. They are just normal people with families and who willing to go above and beyond for citizen protection.
